Right, I've got 6 months of being the primary carer to our little girl.
I thought I'd use this blog as a way of showing how hard or easy it really is to be a stay-at-home-parent.
A couple of things I ought to mention first:
1. Emilia is - by all accounts - a very good natured baby. She's not colic-y and sleeps well at night.
2. My wife works from home. She works bloody hard but when she has her lunch she can eat it downstairs with me and Emilia.
Because of those reasons I'm not expecting this to be overly stressful however I am looking forward to what the next 6 months will bring...
Gosh she's cute. As a mum of 3 I'm looking forward to following your journey (which I have to say I think is fab. . Wish all dads had the opportunity to do this even if just for a little while x

Katrina,
DeleteThank you for your support. I'm fully in favour of all guys doing this too. It's a great experience and one that I think will make us a stronger family
Been there with my two.
ReplyDeleteYou need to be the primary carer to know how tough it can be.
Make sure that you sign up to all the playgroups and get involved. Try not to be too stunned when you hear the horror stories of episiotomies. And you will get nappy brain, it just comes with the lack of sleep and the constant reacting to the immediate needs of a baby and yes us men can multi-task. You will find yourself, making dinner, cleaning the house, changing nappies and keeping her amused at the same time.
The best days of my life.
Enjoy and get yourself a manly hobby to keep yourself in touch with your masculine side.
Paul
Thanks Paul,
DeleteFirst comment from a Dad. I thought it was just mums that were reading this. Good to know who my audience is!
I have "inherited" Emma's place on the local baby-groups and have heard all the stories (or, at least all I want to of the stories) about episiotomies. I've even tried to join in - but there is only so far you can go...!)
I think baby-brain is infectious as I think Emma gave it to me about 4 months ago! I'm getting quite good at multi-tasking (or at least managing my time so that I'm always doing something - even if Emilia is sleeping)
Thanks for your support
Joe
(P.S. Does Call of Duty on PS3 count as a manly hobby?)
